Quick help
Getting started
What FlavorDraft is, and the first thing to do.
What is FlavorDraft?
FlavorDraft is a personal recipe cookbook for iPhone. It brings the recipes you find on websites, in social posts, in photos and on food packaging into one place, where you can organize them into collections, adapt them, and build a grocery list from them.
Do I need an account to use FlavorDraft?
No. You can use FlavorDraft on your iPhone without signing in. Signing in with Apple or Google connects your cookbook to an account so it can be backed up and restored. See Account & sign-in.
How do I add my first recipe?
Tap the + button on Home. From there you can scan a recipe, scan food packaging, import from a link, import from social media, describe a dish or idea, or add a recipe manually.
Imports
Bringing recipes in from links, posts and pages.
How do I import a recipe?
Copy the link, open FlavorDraft, tap + and choose Import from link, then paste it. You can also share a page or post straight to FlavorDraft from Safari or the app you found it in, using the iOS share sheet.
Imports run in the background, so you can keep using FlavorDraft while the recipe is being read.
What sources can I import from?
Recipe websites and blogs, and supported social and video sources such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and Facebook posts. You can also scan a printed recipe or a cookbook page, scan food packaging, or describe a dish and let FlavorDraft draft it.
Not every page or video contains enough recipe information to import, and some sources can't be read. When an import can't be completed, FlavorDraft lets you know, and you can add the recipe manually instead.
Why is my recipe still importing?
Imports finish in the background. Follow progress on Home under Imports; when the recipe is ready you'll see Recipe ready and can open it to review. Busy pages and longer videos can take a little longer.
If an import seems stuck, check that your iPhone has an internet connection and try the import again. If it keeps happening with a particular link, email it to us and we'll take a look.
Can I review a recipe before it's saved?
Yes. Nothing is saved until you've reviewed it. When an import finishes, FlavorDraft shows what came through, including the ingredients, steps, servings and the source credit. Tap Review Recipe to check and edit it, or Save as is.
Why is an imported recipe missing something?
FlavorDraft only keeps what the source actually provided. If a page or post leaves out an amount, a time or a step, the recipe won't invent it. You can fill in anything that's missing while you review the recipe, or later from the recipe itself.
Does FlavorDraft keep the original source?
Yes. Imported recipes keep the creator or site attribution and a link back to the source when it's available, so you can always return to the original.
Recipes & Grocery
Organizing, adapting and shopping.
How do I add ingredients to Grocery?
Open a recipe, go to Ingredients and tap Add to Grocery. Choose the ingredients you need, or Select All, then tap Add. Ingredients that are already on your list are marked, so you won't add them twice.
Your Grocery list is grouped by aisle, and each item shows the recipe it came from. Tap an item to mark it bought.
Can I organize recipes into collections?
Yes. In My Recipes, open the Collections tab to create and browse collections. From a recipe, use Add to Collection to file it. A recipe can sit in more than one collection, and it always stays in All.
Can I favorite recipes?
Yes. Tap the heart on a recipe. Favorites appear under the Favorites filter in My Recipes.
Can I edit an imported recipe?
Yes. You can edit a recipe when you review it after import, and any time after saving it.
You can also ask for changes in plain language with Draft with AI on the recipe, for example to make it healthier or swap an ingredient. FlavorDraft shows the suggested changes against the original, and nothing is applied until you tap Apply Changes. Please check ingredients, amounts and cooking steps before you rely on them.
How do I find a recipe I saved?
Use the Search tab to search your cookbook by recipe name or ingredient, or browse My Recipes, Favorites and your collections.
Account & sign-in
Guest use, signing in and signing out.
Can I use FlavorDraft without signing in?
Yes. FlavorDraft lets you continue on your iPhone without signing in, and you can sign in later.
How do I sign in?
FlavorDraft uses Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In. Open the Profile tab to sign in. FlavorDraft doesn't have its own passwords, so there's nothing to reset: your Apple ID or Google account handles that.
What happens to my recipes when I sign in?
Signing in connects your cookbook to your account so it can be backed up and restored. Sign in with Apple or Google, and your cookbook comes with you.
How do I sign out?
Sign out from the Profile tab. Recipes connected to your account are restored when you sign in again with the same Apple or Google account.
I signed in and my recipes are missing.
Recipes are tied to the account you signed in with. If you have both an Apple and a Google sign-in, sign out and sign back in with the one you used originally. If they're still missing, email us and tell us which sign-in you used.
Subscriptions & purchases
Billed and managed by Apple through the App Store.
What plans does FlavorDraft offer?
FlavorDraft Premium is offered as a Monthly or an Annual subscription through the App Store. The Monthly plan may include a 7-day free trial for eligible users. The Annual plan does not include that free trial.
Prices are shown in FlavorDraft and on the App Store in your local currency before you subscribe, and can vary by country or region.
What happens after a free trial?
If you start a Monthly free trial and don't cancel before it ends, it converts to the paid Monthly subscription and Apple charges your Apple ID payment method, following Apple's subscription rules. You can cancel at any time during the trial through your Apple ID subscription settings.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple, not by FlavorDraft. To change or cancel yours:
- On your iPhone, open the Settings app and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Choose FlavorDraft and pick a different plan, or tap Cancel Subscription.
You can also get there from the App Store app: tap your profile picture, then Subscriptions.
Emailing us can't cancel a subscription; only Apple can. Deleting the app, or deleting your FlavorDraft account, doesn't cancel it either.
How do I restore purchases?
If you've subscribed before, or subscribed on another device, and FlavorDraft doesn't show Premium, open the subscription screen in FlavorDraft and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in to the same Apple ID you used for the purchase.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. You can request one through Apple's Report a Problem service, using the Apple ID you purchased with.
Privacy & account deletion
Your data, and how to remove it.
How do I delete my FlavorDraft account?
FlavorDraft includes an in-app option to delete your account. Open the Profile tab, then Settings, and use the account deletion option.
Deleting your account removes your account and account-linked data from FlavorDraft's active systems, subject to the retention described in the Privacy Policy. It does not cancel an App Store subscription: manage that through Apple, as described under Subscriptions.
If you can't get into the app to delete your account, email us from the address connected to it and we'll help.
Are my recipes private?
Yes. Recipes you save are private to your FlavorDraft account or device unless you choose to share them.
Where can I read the Privacy Policy?
The FlavorDraft Privacy Policy explains what information FlavorDraft processes and why. The Terms of Service cover using the app. For privacy questions or data requests, email support@flavordraft.app.
Troubleshooting
When something isn't working.
Something isn't working. What should I try first?
- Make sure your iPhone has an internet connection. Imports and account features need one.
- Try the action again.
- Check that FlavorDraft is updated to the latest version on the App Store.
- If something looks stuck, close FlavorDraft from the App Switcher and open it again.
- If the problem continues, email us and describe what happened.
Please don't delete and reinstall the app to fix a problem if you use FlavorDraft without signing in. Recipes stored only on your iPhone may be lost. Email us first.
An import failed or came back empty.
Some pages and videos don't contain enough recipe information to import, and some sources can't be read. Try importing from the recipe's own page if the link was a share or a shortened link. If it still fails, email us the link and we'll take a look. You can always add the recipe manually in the meantime.
I'm subscribed but FlavorDraft doesn't show Premium.
Open the subscription screen in FlavorDraft and tap Restore Purchases while signed in to the Apple ID you purchased with. If Premium still doesn't appear, email us with the approximate purchase date.
